Here's the Latest Happenings

I guess it has been a few days since I did a blog and I will be internet-less tonight, so I am going to try to get this entry written before school today.

This has been a busy week, but better busy than bored!

Last night I started a 4-class basket weaving course with 4 of my Women's Weekend friends and another friend from high school. We each made a napkin basket and we all were quite pleased with the results. As you might imagine, we had a lot of laughs, which may be what caused a scheduled 3 hour class turn into a 4 hour class!
I don't have a close up of my basket because I am waiting for the basket to dry completely before I trim off 2 last ends. Then I will present my masterpiece! My SIL, Maryanne, is a very talented basket maker and I am no where near her skills, but her baskets have been an inspiration!

In knitting news, I whipped up a new dish cloth for our kitchen. I found this pattern with the outline of a VW Beetle on it, so I knit it up in yellow. You have to look carefully at the photo to see the Beetle. I think it is cute!

Today Sally and I leave for Rhinebeck, NY for the New York State Sheep and Wool festival. We both have new sweaters to wear and it sounds like the weather is going to be perfect sweater weather. Before leaving for work this morning, Jim reminded me of my one restriction when I go to these kinds of  things-No Livestock (although I believe he would love to be an alpaca farmer!!).

Corey is in Indiana for a race on Saturday. Good Luck and Run Fast!

Time to go to school and earn some yarn money!

Have a good weekend and I'll post some Rhinebeck photos on my return (I know you can hardly wait!).

Hope all is well.

10 Things for Which I am Grateful

10 things for which I am grateful:

1. Christopher Columbus-If he hadn't had the adventuresome spirit to sail the oceans blue in fourteen hundred and ninety-two, I would not have had the day off.

2. Apple trees - Our two trees are loaded with apples-a pretty sight.

3. Applesauce- Today I made up 2 pecks-worth of applesauce from the apples from our apple trees.

3. Beautiful, sunny October days. For those of you counting, this makes 5 in a row.

4. Taking my Dad out for a birthday lunch.

5. Schaeller's Cheeseburgers. Now before you think I am a real cheapskate, taking my father to Schaeller's for his birthday lunch, before ending up at Schaeller, we had driven to Webster, to Charlotte and back to Greece, stopping at 3 different restaurants, all closed on Monday. The website for the place in Webster indicated that they were opened on Monday, but I guess that hasn't been updated in awhile.

6. Winter Pansies -I saw an article promoting them as a nice alternative to fall mums, so I thought I would give them a try.

7. Declining gas prices. Maybe the economy would rebound sooner if gas prices returned to a more reasonable level.

8. Five days until the New  York State Sheep and Wool Festival in Rhinebeck, New York.

9. Phone Calls-I love when Tucker and Corey call home.

10. For having so much for which to be grateful.

What are you grateful for?

Hope all is well.
